I hope this message finds you well as we embrace the gentle transition into the Hawaiian fall season, marked not by leaves changing colors, but by the arrival of giant waves rolling onto our North-facing shores.
Today, I want to offer you a glimpse behind the scenes at Kālā Capital and how it aligns with the lessons we often discuss about treating personal finances like a business.
At the heart of every business, including ours, are three essential elements: people, processes, and tools. They work in harmony to carry out a specific mission, but this week we lost one of these elements. One of our core team members, April, who serves as our compliance officer and back-office support, recently embarked on a well-deserved vacation with her mom (thankfully we did not lose her forever).
April's absence for the past week reminded us of the crucial role she plays in our mission. From sending out advisor agreements and completing investment applications for clients to distributing funds and scheduling client meetings, her contributions are invaluable. In her absence, we chose to work longer and harder to ensure that her vital tasks were completed, without affecting our clients. For Chris and I, stepping-up to fill her big shoes was a no-brainer. Family, for us, is a core value that aligns with the spirit of Hawaii and our company.
April’s vacation centered around spending quality time with her mother, by embarking on an unforgettable journey from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., on bicycles! Together they embraced the sense of freedom and adventure that cycling invokes while soaking in the breathtaking scenery and hues of autumn that we don’t get here in Hawaii. Experiences like this remind us of the little things in life that matter, the moments that are truly priceless.
So, how does this relate to treating personal finances like a business? In a business, every person is a valuable component. Just as we have team members who handle specific tasks to further our mission, you, too, can have team members to help you manage specific tasks to further your financial progress. From investing to taxes to estate planning, having trusted people working for you, with your best interest at heart, is a core aspect of having a well-oiled money management system that does not suck up all your time.
The catch, hiring the right people typically costs money. Money is the tool to allow you to focus on your priorities in both business and your personal life. Here at Kālā Capital we believe life is about happiness, joy, fulfillment, impact and giving yourself the options to pursue your truth while recognizing the pivotal role money plays in providing options, control, security and flexibility to do what matters most to you. From building a trusted team to traveling the world, don’t let life's precious moments slip by because you can’t afford it.
It all starts with making informed, proactive and fiscally responsible choices to prioritize what truly matters to you. Spend time with family, pursue your passions, build a business or simply experience the beauty of our natural wonders– get out there and max out your return on life
Just don’t forget the role money plays as a tool to unlock your freedom, control, security and autonomy!
Thank you for being part of the Kālā Capital community, where we believe that achieving financial success is not just about numbers; it's about enriching your life with moments that truly count.
Warm regards,
